Waste and Recycling Collections Christmas 2023

I know it might feel a bit too early to thinking about Christmas but just wanted to share the changes to the collections over the Christmas period

Bin tags will also be placed on bins for those residents whose collection is being brought forward from the Monday (25th December) to Saturday (23rd December).

Garden, Commercial Waste and Commercial Recycling collections will also follow the same schedule and we will contact those customers directly.

New bench by Village Hall

Those passing by the village hall will have noticed the fantastic new bench by the gate. It looks great and even better it was made and gifted to the village by a local resident for the community to enjoy.

Harvest Picnic

Following the success of the Coronation Lunch we are organising..

Astley & Dunley Harvest Picnic
Saturday the 16th September – 1 – 5pm, Astley Village Hall

There will be tea and coffee, crafts, and games, bunting and balloons and an opportunity to meet with some
of the other village organisations. The hall will be decorated for harvest with possibly a scarecrow or two in
attendance. Bring along your own favourite picnic treats for lunch and if you are so inclined there will be a
prize for the best dressed scarecrow of the afternoon.
Harvest is traditionally a time for sharing so there will be a Bring and Share table where anyone who wants
can bring along harvest produce such as fruit and vegetables from their gardens, jams, preserves, cake, tinned
food, crafts or in fact anything they want to share. During the afternoon the table will be opened for everyone
to help themselves in exchange for a donation to the event charity so please bring some cash with you.
All proceeds will go to the event charity and any leftover produce will be given to the local food bank.
We are pleased to announce that during the afternoon Beatrice Grant, The Lord – Lieutenant of
Worcestershire will join us to plant a tree and unveil a plaque that was commissioned to commemorate
the coronation of King Charles III. There will be something for everyone to enjoy so do come and join us
for fun and friendship with neighbours and friends.
There is no charge for this event, and all are welcome but so we have an idea of numbers could you please
let us know if you intend to join us by Monday 11th September. All we need is the number of adults and
the number of children.

2023 MENU FOR 5TH JUNE @ STOURPORT MANOR

A consultation on division boundaries for Worcestershire has begun

Today is the start of a ten-week public consultation inviting proposals for new council divisions and division boundaries for Worcestershire County Council.

Our consultation will close on 24 July 2023.

After we have considered all representations made to us during this consultation, we intend to publish draft recommendations in October 2023.

We will then hold a further period of consultation on our draft recommendations. Our final recommendations are expected to be published in May 2024.

The new electoral arrangements will come into effect at the local elections in May 2025.

What is an electoral review?

Our electoral review will recommend new electoral arrangements for Worcestershire. We will propose:

·        the total number of councillors elected to the council in the future;

·        the number of divisions;

·        the number of councillors representing each division;

·        division boundaries; and

·        the names of divisions.

How to get involved

This is a public consultation and we welcome views from individuals and organisations across Worcestershire on where they think new division boundaries should be drawn.

We are minded to recommend that 57 councillors should be elected to Worcestershire County Council in the future.

This is no change from the current number of councillors.

We are now inviting proposals to help us draw up a pattern of divisions to accommodate 57 councillors.

In drawing up new electoral  divisions, we must balance three legal criteria, namely:

·        to deliver electoral equality: where each councillor represents roughly the same number of electors as others across the county;

·        that the pattern of divisions should, as far as possible, reflect the interests and identities of local communities;

·        that the electoral arrangements should provide for effective and convenient local government.

We will treat all submissions equally, and judge each case on its merits and against the legal criteria.

If you wish to put forward a view, we would also urge you to ensure that evidence supports your submission.

For example, if you wish to argue that two areas should be included in the same electoral division, make sure you tell us why they should be together, providing evidence about community facilities, ties, organisations, and amenities, rather than simply asserting that they belong together.

There is more advice on our website about how you can get involved in the consultation.

Our website features technical guidance that explains the process and our policies, as well as guidance on how to take part in each part of the process.

We have also set up a webpage dedicated to the review of Worcestershire, where you can find all the relevant information.

You can also access interactive maps of the current ward boundaries across Worcestershire on our website. The portal also allows you to comment and upload documents directly to the site.

Parish Council Grant

If you have any suggestions, schemes or projects that you think we should consider, please forward these to the Parish Council via Mrs Pam Perfect on pamelaperfect@btinternet.com or on 01299 823544.

Or use the contact page on the website.

You could also give your suggestions in writing to a Parish Councillor.
