How will voting be different this year?
In order to keep the elections Covid secure on Thursday (6th May) voting this year will look and feel a little different.
From the queue outside the polling station, to putting the cross in a box, there are a few changes to your usual voting experience:
- You may have to wait outside in a socially distanced queue, as fewer people will be allowed inside.
- You will need to wear a face covering (unless exempt) and sanitise your hands
- You will be encouraged to bring your own pen or pencil
- Many venues will have one-way systems and distancing markers that need to be adhered to
- Polling booths will be regularly disinfected.
- If you have tested positive for coronavirus or are self-isolating, you will be able to apply for emergency proxy vote for someone to vote on your behalf by contacting your local district council’s elections officers.
- Please double check their poll card to see whether their polling station has changed, we have had to make a few changes to the location of some polling stations.
Staff will be available at the polling stations to support voters with the safety measures in place.
You can find a full list of polling stations and other information ahead of polling day on 6th May, please visit the Election Arrangements section of the County Council’s election website pages
