The Commission is carrying out an electoral review of Malvern Hills District Council.

The aim of the electoral review is to recommend ward boundaries that mean each councillor represents approximately the same number of voters.

We also aim to ensure that the ward boundaries reflect the interests and identities of local communities, as well as promoting effective local government.

To achieve these aims, we need to re-draw ward boundaries across Malvern Hills. You can find out more about the review below.

On 11 January 2022 , we published our draft recommendations for the electoral review of Malvern Hills District Council.

From 11 January 2022 to 21 March 2022, we are accepting opinions and comments (submissions) from the public on these recommendations for Malvern Hills District Council.

As a result of our draft recommendations on new warding patterns, we are making changes to the parish electoral arrangements for the following parish and town councils:

The consultation on warding arrangements for Malvern Hills District Council closed on 20 September 2021.

From 13 July to 20 September, we are accepting opinions and comments (submissions) from the public on where you believe ward boundaries should be in Malvern Hills District Council.

The Commission is minded to recommend that Malvern Hills District Council should have 31 councillors in the future. This is seven fewer than the current number of councillors.

The Commission has not yet proposed any new wards. We want to hear what you think of the existing wards and where new boundaries should go. The existing boundaries can be viewed from the links below.

The Commission now needs information from people and groups across Malvern Hills to help it to produce new ward boundaries to accommodate 31 councillors.

As part of the initial stages of the review, we consulted with Malvern Hills District Council on the most appropriate number of councillors to be elected to the council in future.

We received one submission on council size:

The Commission is minded to recommend that 31 councillors should serve Malvern Hills District Council in the future. This is seven fewer than the current number of councillors.

Previous Reviews

This review was started by the Local Government Commission for England (LGCE) on 31 July 2001 but, following the transfer of the LGCE’s functions to The Electoral Commission, the review was completed by The Boundary Committee for England (BCFE).

The Order implementing The Electoral Commission’s decision on the final recommendations of this review has been made and can be viewed on Her Majesty’s Stationery Office’s website. The Implementation Team section of the Commission’s website explains how the Commission’s decisions on The Boundary Committee for England’s final recommendations are made into Orders. The current boundaries of the electoral wards and divisions can be viewed on Ordnance Survey’s election maps website. Parish warding is not shown on the election maps website. It can be seen on the mapping from the Committee’s final recommendations below; any modifications are listed in the Explanatory Note at the back of the Order.
